Just returned from the London Boat Show, and had a long talk with the Volvo people on the problems of getting parts for the older motors.
A gentleman by the name of Mark Kennett, Parts Sales Manager for D.B. Marine told me that there are literally thousands of the older motors out there, especially in Europe, and they do send out parts world wide.
My problem is trying to find thermostats, the right O rings, and other gaskets, so I ordered them right then and there at the Boat Show. Total delivery charge for the parts to be sent to the State of Washington was five pounds (approximately $8.00!)
Their address is D.B. Marine, Cookham Bridge, Cookham-on-Thames, Berkshire SL69SN.
Phone number is 01628 526032
E-mail: Sales@dbmarine.co.uk
Fax: 01628 520564
I paid by credit card for my bill and they are happy to accept it for any order out of the USA

MD7A new parts source!

Re: MD7A new parts source!
Ken,
Thanks for the tip. I copied their addr. and URL for future use.
It's good to have more than one source for anything..especially engine parts.
Have you tried Dipietro-International in Connecticut? (1-800-447-9482 -ask for 'Lester') They seem to carry the O-Rings and crushable washers, water pump etc. that I asked for. Were you able to get a sense for how the prices compare between the UK and USA? Some parts, like thermostats, injector check valve and spring, exhaust elbow etc. have been hard to find in the past. Another source is welcome.
Cheers!

Re: MD7A new parts source!
Larry:
Thanks for the info! I will copy this source and add it to my records!
I paid around $30.00 each for a Volvo thermostat and gasket. O rings were about 50 cents. Gasket for the valve cover was approximately $3.00 each.
Since I could not find a dealer that would not even order these item for me, I stocked up!
As far as the water pump is concerned, check down the list concerning water pumps for info on where to get them. I got a new Johnson pump from a dealer in Seattle at dealers costs with a lot of great information on how to install it from the dealer!
Thanks again for your input

Re: MD7A new parts source!
Ken,
That is a good price! 4 years ago, I had the MD7B in my CD30 rebuilt, and replaced the thermostat then..$60!!! wow. That was obtained locally, at a Volvo dealer. <sound of gouging going on> Oh well..live and learn.
I have my new Johnson pump in hand and ready to install in 8 weeks!
Cheers!
