We live in Maine, boat is in Norfolk. We will be headed to the boat this week (3/8) to either haul her, likely in deltaville, or use a friends slip in Annapolis for a few months. I cannot give the boat away, but am will to make a deal with the right person. Realistically we will be looking a $1000 in storage/ hauling, minimum. So thats a start. I would love to be able to hand AHAVA off to the right buyer in the next 2 weeks. She is in great shape, just sailed 750+ nm and is in better condition for it. I don't have the time to sail her home before the sailing season up here (schooner captain) and can't justify $3000 + to ship her back. Please get in touch if you have interest. We could also work out for us to do any work you want to her during (thats what we do for a living) during the sale. The things we had in mind were to redo the topsides (fender burn from last summer. We could change the color too!) bottom paint, stripping and treating the rails, etc. Zinc was new last spring, but could replace that if we haul her.

If we don't sell her while we are down there, we will turn her over to a broker which will likely keep the price fairly high. Thank you for looking!

Howdy folks, first off, thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. I have been on here in the shadows since we bought our 28 back in 14'.

We are putting our 28 on the market as we had sailed her down to Norfolk last fall after the Maine sailing season was over and the schooners were put to bed in November. The plan was to head back down in March to eep sailing, but jobs are keeping us up here for the summer and I won't have time to sail her back. So we are looking to sell or if not, we will go back down in October and keep sailing south!

Bellow is copied from my CL add, but I would be more than happy to discuss any details further.

"We are putting up for sale our CD 28. We are the fourth owner of "Ahava". There are hundreds of details that I will be happy to discuss with serious potential buyers but here are the basics:

In CD fashion the hull is heavily laid fiber glass and is in great condition. Topsides were properly prepped and painted last spring with EZpoxy. Decks and cabin trunks were also repainted. Cockpit coming and bright work was refinished last winter. Standing and running rigging have been replaced as needed with a new lower shroud and a new main halyard. Sails are in very good condition. they are likely from the early 90's, but have been well taken care of and are of a heavier Dacron than needed. They were just looked over by a great local sailmaker in Camden Maine and he said they were in great condition and show limited signs of wear. Harken RF 130 genny with suncover.

LED nav lights brand new vhf, ray marine gps(Color with charts, but not new)/plotter with older garmin back and a ray marine radar.

Cabin has v berth forward with fill in to make it a double berth port side settee pulls out to a double and the starboard is a single to sleep 5. 20gal fresh water 12gal of diesel foot pump to galley and head sink. All bronze spartan thru hulls clean and serviceable. 2 burner alcohol stove. Icebox.

Yammer 2gm20f new in 97'. No hour meter with the motor but given that the boat has been a short day cruiser its whole life until we bought it, i would Honestly peg it somewhere around 1500-2000 hours.

We bought the boat last year and motored most of the way up from Mass to Maine. the boat has been sailed quite a bit since last august in the Penobscot bay. This past Nov. we left Camden Maine and worked our way down the coast until storing in Norfolk while we headed back to maine for some winter work. We were planning on heading back in March to continue sailing, but a job has changed that plan. We may still return to the boat in October and sail south, but thought to put it on the market now and see what happens

My girlfriend and I captain and maintain boats for a living and our boat reflects that. It is not hinckley polished, but she is a wonderful boat who looks after her captain and guests. She is prepared for any voyage and will continue to be more capable than her guests will call for.

Not mentioned here is that I pulled up about 8 ft of decking along the stud side of the cabin house and replaced the balsa with new balsa and re-glassed. I used west systems and biaxial cloth and faired over with WS.
