REPLACING IMPELLER ON 1GM YANMAR FOR 25D

Once you get the screws were out, I found a quick fix was to replace the screws with stainless cap screws. I believe the screws are metric M4 x 8 threads. The socket head of the cap screws let you use an Allen wrench. You can shorten the wrench as needed to get behind the pulley and the socket holds the wrench securely in position for tightening/loosening. I think I got mine at McMaster Carr. Just a thought... Bob, I really like that idea. I am not sure it will work for me, but I will give it a try. And for those of you inclined to use vise-grips to get the troublesome screws out, this idea is brilliant! Bob, were you able to get SS cap screws?

Yes, I'm using the SS socket cap screws right now on my pump and it worked out pretty well. I think I bought them from McMaster Carr. Like I said, I believe they are M4 x 8 mm (or maybe 6mm) 0.7 pitch. I can't find my old order, but McMaster Carr stocks a full line of metric stainless hardware. They're $6.72 for 25 in that size. I'm pretty sure have some extras around on the boat, I can check if your interested.
