Great film, Jim.
We live in a hot bed of wooden boat building up here in Nova Scotia, with several shops still operating repairing and building many types of wooden boats. The skills are still very much alive. It's become a hobby of ours to visit the builders and see what they're working on. There are quite a few Herreshoff designs still sailing here, as well as a large fleet of fine wooden schooners that race all summer.
I had the pleasure to have a long phone conversation With Halsey Herrechoff in 1985. I owned a little Bristol 26 (outboard model) and was given a small diesel by a boatbuilding friend who salvaged it from a boat destroyed by fire. I wondered if the Bristol could be adapted to inboard power, but knew it was a complicated project. I called Bristol Yachts and they had Halsey call me. For two memorable hours he walked me through all the considerations for altering a design he was clearly fond of, and even later sent me some drawings. Nice folks, those Herreshoffs.

Burgess was one of my favorite actors. He was in many great films such as "Of Mice and Men".
