Dripless Shaft Seals
Thinking about a dry bilge... The question is "face seal" (i.e. PSS) vs "lip seal" (i.e. Tides Marine SureSeal). I've read most of what folks have had to say about the PSS unit, and it does seem to be the more prevalent one used. But does anyone have any experience with a lip seal unit? Anyone have a particular prejudice? No point in opening up the ol' "stuffing box vs dripless" debate or someone will want to talk about locking the prop underway

I have a PSS unit. I chose it primarily because I'd heard "loose lips sink ships"David Morton wrote: But does anyone have any experience with a lip seal unit?
I apologize David....at least I didn't mention locking my prop......

Jim, no apology required. I set myself up for that one. Any hints or cautions concerning the installation with the PSS? All details appreciated.
BTW, I've decided to avoid the lip seal design, specifically for fear of chapping and the daily application of red pigmented lubricant.
