Source for Yanmar water pumps

Post by GeorgeH »

Needed a new water pump for my engine and couldn't believe what Yanmar was charging ($480). After searching the web web I found my model Yanmar (2GM20F) used a Johnson pump and was able to get the part number (128397-42500). A little more searching and found a company, pumpvendor.com that sold the pump for almost 45% less than the Yanmar distributor. When It arrived in the mail in came in a Yanmar box. I put it in this weekend and it works fine.

Looking forward to some more great October sailing on the LI Sound.

Good for you!
Thanks for sharing this tip with the rest of us. Here is the hyperlink folks; http://www.pumpvendor.comh

As usual it pays to shop. I selected a bilge pump advertised by this company at random and found the identical pump (Shurflo Model 358-010-10) on Defender's website and Defender's price was $34.48 cheaper. Clearly this is an indication that the products they offer are not all necessarily a bargain. The Yanmar water pump is an outstanding bargain but it pays to shop.
