The web site for Flag Harbor is: http://flagharbor.com/. Both the marine services and condo assn. are shown. Rates for marine services are shown along with slips for rent or sale. I bought my 35’ slip for $20000.00 and I pay $200.00/ year in taxes. My condo fee is $1500.00/year. The standard rental rate for a 35’ slip is around $2500.00/year. I figure I would save around $10,000 over a period of 12 years buying vs renting. Flag Harbor is also a not for profit and benefit with reduced or no tax liability. We have a full time secretary and maintenance person. The pool is maintained and repaired as necessary e.g. we bought a new pool cover this year. The pavilion is available for parties and gatherings for both owners and renters. We also have free Wi-Fi maintained by one of the board members. Each year we have several social gatherings for Flag Harbor slip owners, renters, and their guests. Flag Harbor Condominium Association has a current BOAT U.S. Cooperative Group Accord. FHCA members can receive 50% off the regular BOAT U.S. annual membership dues.

Moctrams:

Your post (and video) has definitely peaked my interest.

Do sailboats typically remain in the water during "winter" months or are they hauled out :?: If hauled, can they be put on jacks and stored on the marina grounds :?:

From my limited Google search it seems like hurricanes are rare in that area. Accurate :?:

Thanks in advance for information.
Fair winds,

Roberto

Many, many, many sailboats are stored at Flag Harbor over the winter, all with jack stands and ground cover. We do get hurricanes. A lot of cruisers winter at Flag Harbor because of security (we have cameras) and safety. Video shows the new travel lift up toward the barn.

When Isabel hit in 2013 we moved most of the boats up on dry land. The other boats were moved away from the bay and all sails, biminis, etc. were removed and stowed below. Most owners came down and took care of their boats. A team led by the marina operator (John Little) worked all night making sure the boats left in the water were secured and holding. We did not have any damages to the harbor, boats or buildings. There were a lot of trees toppled in the area and power was out for several days. The marina cut all power on the docks before the hurricane hit and I'm sure this will happen this time. There are a lot of slip owners that will work together to make sure all boats are taken care of. Local residents brought us food and lots of coffee through out the duration of the storm. Just talked to Marina operator (7:08pm) and he is already pulling boats. Mine is already on the hard.
