What ever you do, do not let your documentation expire, it is costly to reinstate it!

Good advice. We're due in November. We'll send it in now.

Had fabulous sailing over here in Nova Scotia yesterday. 12-15, low seas, wonderful sailing!

Life is good.

I've called a couple of times and will chime in regarding the polite, knowledgeable, and helpful people I spoke with.

This past summer, one of our Thistles broke off the mooring and took, we think, this path to the south. We called the U.S. Coast Guard, and they called us back to say they found it! We know approximately where because they took pictures on their cell phone and emailed them to us for identification. Halfway rock was in the background.

If you know this area, it is full of rocks, reefs, and islands, we are not sure how it got past everything without any harm!

They towed it to a public launch site in South Portland for us to pick up that night.

There was no identification on the boat (Maine has no registration for un-powered boats), and there would have been no way for anyone else who found it to even get in contact with us.

Long story short, I happily sent in my $26, and only wish ALL my taxes could come close to paying for these kinds of professional services.

I agree with Skip...anything to keep those crummy 3-inch registration numbers off my hull!!

Good news :!:

Boat US advises that starting in 2017 a certificate of documentation will be valid for five (5) years. Presumably (the Boat US article did not say), the $26 fee will be one fee for five (5) years. Yea :!: :!:

That is good news. Thanks Roberto, and USCG.

Do they send out renewal notices? I sure don't want to miss my renewal date.
