Local Knowledge - Coastal SC

Having passed the age at which I make fun of people who go south for the winter, my wife and I have begun to explore areas in which we could hide out from the worst months of the NE winter. We are leaning towards SC, having been there during the past two winters, sailing in Charleston harbor a few days last February. We like the greater Charleston area, especially the ability to sail in the big harbor and up the rivers. Should we consider other areas with the potential for good winter sailing?

I would appreciate any input.
