Reading the posts re: CD 25 outboard shaft lenghth I got to wondering (too much of that and not enough sailing lately) do I have options with the shaft lenght of my outboard? I have been seeking a 25" 8HP replacement for the 6.6 and find it is a special order and have fewer options. Am I hearing that I could make due with a 20". Please tell me more. Can't get out sailing till I get this resolved and I am getting grouchy.
Thanks to all.

I have the long shaft version of an OB on my CD22. Although I have no experience with the regular length shaft on my sailboat, I can tell you that the long shaft provides the bite you need when you are bobbing in a seaway trying to get through a mass of powerboat wakes. It puts the prop down low enough in the water so it doesn't come out and over rev with big waves or steep chop.
