I am in the process of buying a '72 Typhoon weekender.
I plan to keep the boat on a mooring that is open to quite
a choppy sea. I am concerned about stemhead fitting, which
lacks a bow roller - it only has two fairleads, open at the
top.
I saw a newer Typhoon that has a much better stemhead fitting
with a proper roller with safty pin to keep the mooring rope
in place.
Does anybody have experience of using the earlier stemhead on
an exposed mooring, or of upgrading the fitting?
