CD 31 Mast Height

Does anyone know the height of a CD-31 mast above the waterline?

I've seen that dimension on drawings of some CDs but haven't been able to find it for the CD-31.

Depends on how much is installed at the mast top (i.e. antenna, etc.) Mine is 47 feet +/-, and I play it safe by assuming 50 feet clearance is needed.

We measured ours at 47 ft. 5 inches with the antenna. Skip's idea to assume 50 is sage advise, particularly in choppy waters.

Hi Jim,

I like Neil's approach for simplicity, if not economy.

We checked it when we bought the boat. The true waterline at the mast was pretty obvious. On a calm morning , we used two levels and a metal ruler to get the height up to the top of the toe rail, repeating this to get to the the mast at deck level.. The rest was a function of my courage going up the mast with the long tape measure.

And did you know that we never, ever run aground? We seem to sail in areas of frequent small earth quakes. From time to time a tremor will force the bottom up to kiss our keel. We know this to be true, for the only other plausible explanation would be our faulty navigation, which is just not possible.

Glad to see you safely home. It must have been one pleasant voyage.
