Where are seacock valves located on a CD Typhoon
I am a relative newcomer to the world of CD Ty sailing. My ' 78 CD Typhoon is now in the water and the scuppers are not draining correctly. I can find the scupper drain valves, their location is obvious. I cannot find the seacock valves (through hull valve) so often mentioned in this forum. Do you have to crawl under the cockpit to locate them ?
Thanks

Dana,
You may not have seacocks, as is the case with my boat. Hoses from the cockpit to the through hull fittings should be obvious when looking aft under the cockpit sole. Mine were full of debris when I bought the boat last winter, and yours may be too. If you're at a dock, train a hose into the scupper and blast away. If on a mooring, use a gentle probe to clear it enough to drain, even if it's a slow drain. Rain may erode what you did not remove once you get some flow going. Are you a swimmer? Poking from below may help too.

I found a small toilet plunger on my first Ty. I couldn't figure out why it was there until the cockpit drains started to run slowly. The plunging action sloshes water back and forth through the clog prone areas and does a great job of clearing them. You might still want to dive down and clear the through hull of marine growth but periodic plunging does a great job. I still keep one on Raven, Steve.

Steve and Rich
Again I have very limited knowledge. Can you tell me where on the hull the through hull fittings are located ?
Thanks

Thanks a million for your very informative photo, that helps, now I am that much closer !
The boat is in the water, and the Maine water is cold this time of year, so I am reluctant to don a wet suit and swim under the boat but I may have to. Can you tell me the location on the hull of the through hull fitting (fore, aft, amidships,) and how deep below the waterline ?
Thanks
Dana

You'll find the nuggets about airships directly in the approximate location from your valves toward the starboard and port locations. Its much easier on a trailer. Lol
