I am looking for some advice regarding a new bottom paint color scheme for a CD 25 which is currently undergoing a complete bottom job to repair a blister problem I could no longer stand to look at (or think about). The boat has been carrying the original blue with red boot stripe combination but I'm thinking of a brown bottom with a dark green bootstripe as an alternative (to match tan sail/tiller cover and non-skid and hunter green interior cushions). Any suggestions regarding specific colors to accomplish this end (i.e., paint names/codes and brand)? Also, any input regarding bottom paints -- i.e., brands and types -- as I get to start from scratch this time would be welcome (boat lives in the Chesapeake Bay).

I decided to try a change and went with blue bottom paint with dark blue boot stripe. Now I am fixed on going back to brown--it really looks great on a CD, esp with the tan non-skid. I like the green bootstripe idea. I would choose, as you mention, a dark green to provide a contrast. I use Interlux Micron CSC. It's expensive, but you never have to sand the bottom again. Ever. I would also check with boaters in your immediate vicinity to see what works for them in your specific water conditions.
