Early Naugus Alberg Typhoon

I am restoring an early (1964) Naugus Alberg Typhoon, INTERLUDE, #22, the predecessor to the Cape Dory Typhoon, and am interested in compiling additional information on these early Typhoons. Any insights others have is greatly appreciated.

How many Naugus Typhoons where there? What years where they manufactured? I have yet to locate an earlier # than ours, so I'm curious... Is she the oldest surviving Typhoon? INTERLUDE is also a daysailer, like the photo of #17 in the attached Naugus Fiberglass Industries advertisement. Have any other Naugus daysailer survived?

When I was looking for a fixer upper last fall, I considered purchasing Naugus Typhoon #33, which was stored on the hard in Newport. She's a 1963 model, according to the seller, which is not consistent with your data. When I uncovered her I found that those who shrink wrapped her overheated the awl grip finish on the topsides, bubbling it up, and that was the deal killer. Needless to say, the out of town owner was quite upset when I sent the photos!

Here's a entry from Noel Peattie's Typhooner newsletter about Naugus Typhoon #31:

"Robert H. Conway writes from Martha's Vineyard: "Here in Quitsa Pond at Martha's Vineyard is perhaps one of the oldest Typhoons. It wasn't made by Cape Dory [Yachts] but by Naugus Fiberglass Industries of Salem, Massachusetts and carries Number 31 on her bronze plate. Then the boat wasn't made with a high cockpit so rain water, etc. would automatically drain out through hull pipes. That way every time it rains you have to go out and pump her out." Also, FIRST TY, Naugus Typhoon #39 sails out of RRYC in Irvington, VA. She's a weekender with beautiful teak cockpit bench seats and a the same low cockpit described above.

As Carl Alberg lived in Marblehead, I am guessing that Naugus Head was the namesake for the boat/production company in Salem.
