(but we're sending you snow) :)

Sailing involves the courage to cherish adventure and the wisdom to fear danger. Knowing where one ends, and the other begins, makes all the difference.

Good afternoon Winthrop,
Welcome to Citrus Springs FL ! Did you bring your boat(s)? Its good to hear we have another CD sailor in the CC area. I only know of one other CD around here, which was a Typhoon that I only saw one time like 9 years ago, with a young couple and a child aboard.
No snow here, but we have been down to 18 degrees a few times in January just to remind you what you are missing. So freezing bilges can still be an occasional issue, and then be in the 50s the next day. Having lived and worked too many years up north of 40 deg latitude I do not mind this too much.

Since we likely live within 6 miles, and we have lived here for 10 years, I would welcome you to give me a call if you like. Same area code, 246-6101. We live on the south-west side of the horseshoe of Citrus Springs Blvd. If you do not know the local waters, I can help you with some local knowledge. We are now retired with several house projects, then I can get back to my old CD 25 which is here out of the water, and in process of much needed maintenance and upgrades.
Best wishes

Hi Bob,

Glad to hear from someone in Citrus Springs, we live in Beverly Hills around 10 miles away i go over there 3 to 4 times a week for all our shopping needs.

I sold our boats a few years ago before going overseas, so we are looking for sailboat and powerboat in the near future. we have a large back yard and room for a shed and 2 boats.

We came here four months ago to found the house we just bought smelled like a dog kennel and the back yard was a jungle and after all the painting inside the house and putting in new carpet, new roof, up dating the elictric panel.

And removing the jungle, i call it is weads 5 feet tall by 125 feet long by 12 feet in depth took me a month to cut it all down. my wife and me are 57 and its a ton of work. :(

But the funny part is everone we met is from another states. We really like it here and the people are real nice and lots to do.

I still have to paint the outside of the house and some other things to do and also found a job.

I try to give you call sum time.
thank you.

You would be welcome. We too shop in BH, and Ocala.
We moved down here 10 yrs ago, and have been doing the same thing on our home with a little over one acre. We now have the big shed for the boats and RV, and recently retired from the local nuke plant. We should continue this on the phone if you like.
We travelled up to CT to buy our 25 after looking at several others. Your 22 would have been fun here.
There are some used CDs in FL, but not around here. Good place for shallow boats, which is the reason I Bought a 25. It took me a long time to get Back to a FL home after 2 other type sail boats in La and Tx. Always wanted a real CD!
Farther south I would have gone for deeper draft, like my favs 28 or 30. I am originally from the east coast (Vero Beach) of this state, and it too is populated mostly with NE and upper Midwest retirees. I have sailed there and several other states, but only power boated CC here so far.
Best wishes to all.
