Cape Dory Registry Repaired

Post by bilofsky »

In response to a couple of complaints by Cape Dory owners who could not edit their entries in the Registry, I found that a hacker had inserted some invisible code in the page in an apparent attempt to game Google. This broke the editing function.

This has now been fixed. I don't know how long it will stay that way - there are nasty folks out there.

I hope the registry will migrate soon to a more durable and modern format, but can't predict if and when that might happen.

Note that although there is a link to the registry at the top of the message board pages, it is not part of the CDSOA web site and the CDSOA webmasters are not responsible for it at this time.

Apparently the registry has been hacked again, Walt. Do you know if it will be repaired at any point or is it a thing of the past now?

I guess it's a fossil. I'm no longer maintaining it. I might try to freeze it but won't even be able to look at it until December.

I haven't been paying attention, but there must be any number of guestbook apps around that could work or be modified to work for this function.

Or has it been superseded by the CDSOA membership roster?

The membership roster is only in print form and comes out yearly, correct?

The registry was so nice because it could be edited and was much more current. I, for one, would hate to see it cease to exist. I wish I had the skills and knowledge necessary. If I did I would happily volunteer to create and maintain one.
