CD-30 Captains take note..Commissioning Plaque...CD-30..
To all honorable Captains of CD-30s,
I removed the Commissioning Plaque from Hanalie this afternoon. It will be sent post haste to Roger at Bristol Bronze at dawn (or whenever the post office opens) on Monday. Once Roger has copied it with a mold, they will be available to all CD-30 skippers!
Somehow, it does this old Captains soul well, that a bit of Hanalei will forever be with all CD-30s. Well, it actually isn't a part of Hanalei alone, it is Cape Dory that will be with all of us.
Bye the Bye, the plaque was mounted on the forward frame board of the companionway. Centered, and appropriately polished to put forth the hail that this vessel you are boarding IS a CD-30!
Fair winds and following seas to all...Hanalei, on-the-hard, in Noank, CT....

Dave,
Can you post a picture of your plaque? I have a CD30MKII and am wondering if we need to get our own mould?
Thanks,

Dave,
I talked to Roger at Bristol Bronze on Friday morning past, and he mentioned that another CD30 owner had already mailed him their CD30 plaque. You might want to give him a call and see if this is still fact before risking Hanalie's plaque to the mails...
But that was a thoughtful and unselfish thing to do, so thank you..and the other person who reportedly has his plaque on the way also.
We really do have a neat group of folks here on CCDOA.
Cheers All!

Larry,
I am the person Roger was refering to. The plaque will be in the mail this morning. Hopefully he should get it in a few days, make the mold, and CD-30 plaques will be available.

Re: I am the guy Larry....
Dave,
I'm almost certain that Roger mentioned another last name, but I could be mistaken. Regardless, it is nice of you to volunteer to do this.
SNOW? yup, we have around 6-8 in. here in my front yard, and up at the boat, they have had a real mess with lake effect snow building up. So now we start counting weekends.
Cheers!

Dave,
Give you joy to your decision to send in your plaque for the good of other CD30 owners. Though I sail a humble Typhoon, I celebrate your action and hope to one day gaze upon a casting of that very same item while punching into a fresh nor'easter from the worm gear driven wheel of my own CD30! The world needs more sailors like you.
