New Bronze Hull# Plaque
We're gumming this to death.
Bronze Hull # Plaque (AKA; Builders Plate, Builders Plaque, etc.)
CD32 & Handy Cat 14;
Bristol Bronze (Roger Winiarski, <rogerw@meganet.net>) has the modes completed and therefore can replicate 'Bronze Builders Plaques' for the CD32 and the Cape Dory manufactured 'Handy Cat 14'.
CD30;
A CD30 captain is currently planning on sending his original Bronze Builders Plaque to Bristol Bronze next week (20 Nov.) This plaque will be used for the making of a 'mold'. Once the mold is complete Roger will be able to replicate CD30 plaques for us.
Every other model;
For EACH CD model, Roger needs; a) original BRONZE plaque or b) a very fine line drawing. Not a plastic one - no good, it will melt??
If you have a bronze builders plaque installed and want to send it to Roger - Great. If not (in my case nothing) we have to find a CD'er with that model AND a bronze builders plaque AND will let Roger have it for two to three weeks. Or draw a fine detailed line drawing and send that to Roger.
Anyone willing to part with a REAL bronze Builders Plaque for a few weeks is encouraged to send it registered mail to:

Re: New Bronze Hull# Plaque
Hello to all bronze plaque wanters :
Am I missing something? The plastic plaque on my 25D looks exactly like Catherine's that she posted earlier...it was my understanding that there weren't different plaques for the various models...however I did read somewhere on a thread that the CD10? had a square plaque, which is obviously different. My intention was (is) to have Bristol Bronze to cast me a plaque in Catherine's CD32 'likeness' to replace my plastic one...somebody please educate me. Thanks in advance.

Re: New Bronze Hull# Plaque
Lou,
I think the issue is that the model number is a problem if you want something other than a 32 or 14. Roger Winiarski needs to either create a mold from a plate, or he needs to start with art work. I presume he etches from the art work and molds from the sample, but maybe he creates a new mold, rather than lifting one from a sample. I would imagine that starting from art work will result in a plate that has cleaner edges.
I believe that Roger would prefer to work from a bronze plate.

Re: New Bronze Hull# Plaque [CD31 #1]
We have just bought CD31 #1 from her original owner. Her original name is SPINDRIFT, and she appears in the Cape Dory brochures.

Re: New Bronze Hull# Plaque
I know some CD's did not have a cast bronze plate. My CD-31 #004 has a plain, engraved brass plate which is OK but not really as nice as a cast plate.
Could Bristol offer a cast plate with a blank spots for both the model length and the hull number? They could then stamp in the information. I think this would satisfy a lot of owners, including me, and be easier for them to manufacture.
I think this was suggested previously.

Re: Note from Roger -- Bristol Bronze
Guys,
Here's a note I received from Roger Winiarski of Bristol Bronze regarding the hull# plaques.
====================
Hi Catherine,
Thanks for the E-Mail.
The quickest, easiest and least expensive way for me to do the Builder's Plates for the other Cape Dory models is to do just what I did with yours which would mean that I would need one of the hard to find metal plates for each model of boat. The other way would be to have a graphic artist do a line drawing of each different plate. If there is a Cape Dory owner out there somewhere that is an artist this would be a big help.
If anyone else wants a Cape Dory 32 plate they can send me $40.00 ($35.00 for the plate plus $5.00 shipping & handling). If they wish there is an order form on my Web Site and they can use a credit card number. Or they can call me at 401-625-5224 and give me their credit card number over the phone. I have three or four more Cape Dory 32 plates on hand and can make as many more as necessary.
Roger W.

====================
I sent Bristol Bronze an e-mail this morning regarding the manufacturing of the other CD hull# plaques. If possible, they'd like a bronze plaque from each model to make the new ones. If that cannot be done, then they'd like line drawings of the plaques. I suggested photocopies of the plaques since they can use the dimensions from the plaque for the CD32 which they've already made. I'm waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully, they'll be able to use a photocopy and CD owners will be willing to remove their plastic plate, photocopy it and send the photocopy to Bristol Bronze. I'll keep you posted.
