Barnacles

Post by Brian Hickson »

Before launching this year I applied a generous amount of anhydrous lanolin to the propeller and shaft to discourage barnacle growth. I'm happy to report that there was nary a barnacle to be seen this Fall. Apparently, this stuff works very good. Once again, about $15 at your local CVS [may have to be ordered] for a lifetime supply.

I did about as well by polishing the prop before launch last spring.

Did surfaces still feel greasy?

Would be curious to know if the lanolin resisted all that high-speed water

Nope. The remaining lanolin, if any, was washed away by the HP water wash.
