More Typhoon Pics!!!
Well I've finally been able to get some photos of my boat on the web-with a little help from my friends! See www.geocities.com/Regalo82
I've also got some pictures of "Regalo" under sail which I hope to get posted soon.

Re: More Typhoon Pics!!!
Mike, thanks for sharing the photos. They are an inspiration. I just purchased a 1980 Ty and will be hauling her to my house in two weeks. I am anxiously awaiting early spring to do some work on her. I will be looking at your photos often this winter as a way of hanging on to my sanity.Mike Wainfeld wrote: Well I've finally been able to get some photos of my boat on the web-with a little help from my friends! Mike:
I enjoyed your photos but was not able to tell what color certain things were. I have a 1976 Typhoon that has the robin egg blue non-skid and am planning to change it. It appears that yours is off white or tan. Do you, or for that matters, anyone else know what color matches the original later model non-skids. I also could not tell what color your boot stripe was. Is it the cayene red like the earlier boats or something different. I plan to do a major polish up this winter and a cetol of the wood. I wouldn't mind completely repainting the boat, but that messes up the economics of being able to eventually sell it and buy a bigger CD.
Thanks for your help.

Why does the color matter?

I as well need to do some repainting, etc. to my Ty. If you repainted the boat tastfully, obviously, would non-factory colors affect the resale? Or, is it supposed to be white because its known to be the proper color?John Phillips wrote: Thanks for your help.

It is not that the color is that important except to a purist, it is that when you add the price of a complete hull painting and topside painting by a someone with the appropriate experience you will probably end up with a boat that is outside of the normal price range of $3000 to $4000 for a Typhoon. If you are going to keep it for ever or don't care about the money, who cares. The non skid is something that I would tackle without the appropriate equipment, temperature controlled booth and ventilator masks and since it appeared from the pictures that it was either tan or off white I was curious what color and brand he had used. I don't care for the original blue and was trying to stay a "half-purist" by going with as close a color to that that was used by Cape Dory on some of their later boats.

Re: Why does the color matter?
I guess I misunderstood what you were getting at. I also agree about the cost issues. I not only have the original blue but one of the two previous owners painted a darker blue overtop so now I have this royal blue that's very dark. Actually it matches almost perfectly the cockpit and cabin cushions. When I bought the boat there was a 1980 Ty docked right next to it with the nice tan topsides. I'm planning on repainting at least the non-skid.

Re: More Typhoon Pics!!!
John- My non-skid is actually a light grey, repainted by the previous owner I believe. I'm not sure if that was the original color in "82, but it does look better than the blue. The bootstripe is Interlux Boot Stripe 835 Red.John Phillips wrote: Mike:
