That is NOT necessary, you can post your photos directly onto this website. Look at the blue bar right below this window, it is labeled Upload attachment. Right below that blue bar is a Browse button, you can use that button to browse to any file on your computer, then click on the Add the file button and you are done.

Nice spinnaker shot, Bill. Some scenes are too good to not share. The junk rigged schooner TOKETEE of Seattle, Wash makes sail today. She looks to be about 45' to me, center cockpit, little wheelhouse aft. Makes the spirit soar.

Sure, delayed gratification is a hallmark of the middle class. At 64, I feel too old for it though. Sailing "off-season" in the San Juans gratifies me with no delay. Three photos (which may load slowly because of the high resolution): a dusting of snow on the sail cover as I prepare to leave Friday Harbor under sail; looking under my reefed main, NW up San Juan Channel to the Canadian Gulf Island of Saturna, in the center distance; tacking into lovely Parks Bay of Shaw Island, looking SE to the anchorage I rely on for many southerlies. A "strong breeze" of Force 6 is due in a few days. As you can tell, there is no crowd here this time of year. Sorry again for the slow loading.

Probably few know the Salish Sea name. I didn't until beginning my salt water cruising here. From the photo below, taken from the very valuable Waggoner Cruising Guide, you can see its area of 5500 square miles, beginning at the entrance to Juan de Fuca Strait, and including Puget Sound and the Strait of Georgia, plus some ancillary waters such as the Hood Canal. The name was proposed in 1988, and formally adopted by the US and Canada after 2009. My own cruising over the last two years has been centered on the San Juan Archipelago, right in the center. I've been north into the Gulf Islands only as far as Galliano Island's Montague Harbor. South, I've sailed across Juan de Fuca Strait four times now, getting as far as Port Ludlow near the Hood Canal entrance. I think it would take decades to fully explore the Salish Sea. Two countries, so many islands, extensive shores, hundreds if not thousands of anchorages, population centers and tiny towns. Cruising riches. All of it is accessible to my little CD25D. Many cruise it in smaller craft. It is important not to think of it as "protected waters" though many parts of it are.

I don't know who it was that commented about your photos taking more time to "load"( ) than most. He must be an idiot. Your photos are spectacular I used to do some underwater photo work and some u/w video. I was good but never came close to what you capture in an elegant photo.

You might not like my response. I do notice your blushing emoticons. Everybody's internet can vary. I don't think he comes close to being either an idiot or a fool. Just someone currently dealing with different parameters. Speaking of which, the only camera I have on board is my iPhone 4S. I yearn for a camera with a zoom lens, but will likely replace my tiller pilot first. Everyone has to deal with a different budget as well, I suppose. As for the settings, I do have it on 1/4s shutter speed, and anti-shake. I think I cropped that photo, and used auto-enhance because it seemed too dark to me. Thank you for the encouragement. I value it, coming from a photographer. Learning as I go. My camera app is ProCamera 7, or something like that. I'm just learning about it, as well.

Tim's right. You could not have been more diplomatic. You should read some of the things that my "friends" OJ and Neal G. write about me, not to mention the ribbings I get from Dick V.

For me it is all in good fun. I only kid around and make jokes with friends; always have. I assume others do the same.

Regardless, great photos and from a phone no less. Geezz Louise I maybe gotta get me one them. My goddaughter has an iPHone (4 or 5, not sure). Maybe she can teach me how to take photos while talking on the phone.

Strictly Sail this weekend. Great weather. I have a short list this year of items I want to look at - jack lines, sanitation hose, NOAA charts (before they are no longer printed), polypropylene line for horseshoe life ring.

Agreed on the joking with friends. I'm glad to be correct. You are neither an idiot nor a fool, apparently. You mentioned Strictly Sail. After being marooned in Colorado for a few decades, I'm pretty uninformed. Never heard of it before. Looked it up. Seems pretty attractive. As for photos, I've only been away from the docks for two weeks, so don't have many photos to share yet. Here is one from 2/7/14, a view you may not have had for some months. Close reach, starboard tack, first reef main, Force 4 (11-16 kts), heading for my favorite storm hole (that bay opening off the bow) where I've been riding out a long series of Pacific lows while at anchor. Can't see it, but there is still a little snow in the cockpit from a dusting the previous night. Highest gusts reported in open water (so far) of 50mph. Wouldn't want to be out in my little CD25Duck in that. I'm a Force 6 (22-27 kts)-is-a-gale sort of sailor still. Looks like I'd better put some tension on the furler control line next time I let out the genoa, or I'll have it jam on the drum. It has happened to me before. No fun. Those extra coils at the mast base are for a spare jib halyard (which I've had to use before) and a spinnaker halyard (which I mostly use for poling out the dinghy on the spinnaker pole). I discussed those in last year's posts. Some decent photos back there, I think.
