Have a Cape Dory 10, hull number 1027 and trying to determine year it was built. Can anyone share their numbers near 1000 and year built?
Thanks,
Bill Howard

Re: CD 10 Year Built?
The CD-10 was the first Cape Dory. I believe they were first built in 1963 or 4. I have hull number 62 and always assumed it would have been built in the first or second year of production.
Starting in 1972 there should be a hull ID number on the Starboard side of the stern. If you have the number, the last to digits should be the year of manufacture. If there is no number then the boat is older than 1972.
This information should narrow down the age to within 5 or 10 years even if you don't have a HIN molded into the stern. To give you an overall picture, there were 2260 CD-10s built up until 1983 so you are somewhere in the middle of production, Steve.

Re: CD 10 Year Built?
There was a post a few years back that gave a number of manufacturing years for various hull numbers. My CD10 has a double hull and is Hull Number 1316. I did some research and it appears to have been built in 1974. You may find this post by looking for CD 10 Hull Number.
