CD 27 Bow Roller Platform Retrofit
Has anyone attempted too retrofit a bowsprit anchor roller platform on a CD27? I have seen a picture of a CD27 that had such a factory installed anchor roller platform. It appears to me that the platform can be retrofitted by removing the six bolts that attach the bronze forestay and chock fitting from the bow of the boat, installing a custom fitted 2" thick Teak platform, and then reattaching the fitting with longer bolts that attach to the backing plate accessible in the chain locker. Am I wrong?
Re: CD 27 Bow Roller Platform Retrofit
I've debated on installing one as well, but haven't gotten around to really deciding if we want to or not. Too many other things to deal with right now.
I was going to try and make a pulpit that didn't interfere with the bow piece at all, but that would runs lightly aft of the bow piece and bolt into the deck, while sitting on supports that simply rest on top of the bow piece. I was going to model it after some of the pulpits shown here:

I think the several options shown in the link above will give you a good idea of the different routes you can take. I really like the one on One Less Traveled (second to last on the list).

Here's an attractive option that wouldn't require much modification to your existing setup. A little pricey, but a lot less labor than what you are looking at doing and you wouldn't have to modify your forestay.

Re: CD 27 Bow Roller Platform Retrofit
Thank you Shinok and Steve. The pictures you've supplied certainly show alternative designs that I might adopt for installing a bow roller platform. The platform I was thinking of installing is shown here:

However, as you pointed out, Steve, this installation would certainly be more labor intensive than the TeakFlex bow roller platform that you referenced. My only question is the cost of the TeakFlex product. Can you give me an idea of the approximate cost?
