I am considering the purchase of a CD 30 with the "B" layout (head forward). It appears that this layout provides a more spacious interior than the “conventional” layout. What do CD 30 owners like and dislike about this arrangement? Recommendations?
Thanks

Re: If ya like a LARGE sea going head.....
John,
My brother had a CD-30b, and I got to use it for two years before buying Hanalei and I have had her now for three seasons.
The B has the large head forward with a wet hanging locker across the bow in front of that. If you need that large of a head, well OK. The B also has a quarter berth and a real chart table. The C doesn't have those. The quarter berth tends to be a catch all for whatever loose gear you have aboard, leaving you with the ability to sleep three in the main cabin(or 4 if ya move the junk from the quarter berth. Also, the B has a U shaped galley.
The C has a full V berth forward, with storage underneath, a slideout double berth on the port side main cabin, and a single berth to starboard, so it can sleep five in total(of course a couple of the crew will have to get married after a short cruise!)
The exterior hull of each model is exactly the same, same hull, rigging(cutter),line layout, everything.
I actually prefer the C model. The V berth does act as a clutter catcher, but we only sleep two most of the time anyway. The head, although smaller than on the B is still adequate(ours even has a shower!)
I guess it really depends on what ya want...both vessels sail the same. FWIW....

p.s. Hey, where are you located? My brothers' CD was named "Premption", it wouldn't be her your looking at by chance? Last I knew she was in Rhode Island.
