After seeing some of those interior shots, I have to wonder how many inches down they are on the waterline, that boat is seriously loaded up! I would ussually comment on 4 people on a CD30 being croweded, but 3 women in bikinis I think is an exception.

I didnt read the whole blog, but I did see a lot of cat photos, I hope they realize that bringing in foreign cats to Oz is a big no no and their cat is going to be put in jail (quarentine) for 6 months.

There were words Interesting. I seemed to only be able to scroll down to see the pretty girls in bikinis, as did my friend Russell.

Apparently Jeff, either you or I have our priorities askew.

South Florida has now enjoyed six (6) straight days of HEAVY rains. Pool flooded. Streets flooded. I am using SCUBA gear to mow lawn.

I am hopeful S/V Bali Ha'i is OK. Sailing club staff have not reported any issues but the torrential rain totals over the past six (6) days been records I think.

Can you imagine if all that rain was snow. A rule of thumb is 1" of rain equals 10" of snow.

I've been waiting for over three weeks to do some varnishing. What the hey, maybe I'll wait for next year to spruce up the boat. I'll just go sailing.

Lets see, three women, one guy, and a cat on a 30' sailboat for over a month at sea. What could possibly go wrong? I am just jealous because I never though of doing that when I was young. What a fabulous adventure, Steve.

I think ladies just have an innate tendency towards thrift, as demonstrated by some of the hard working gals on my farm. These are definitely not captains orders, mind you, and we have even had a few minor automobile accidents around the farm when guys see a gal with a sports bra on a big green tractor and get distracted.

Wow, great to see Portal getting her own post on this forum! I'll take the bikini comments - but be advised we are good at a lot more than just photo posing Besides, there's a couple of Charlie in there too

Seriously though, I have been meaning to write a post on this forum for a long time. During our out-fit in California, I spent endless hours scouring your messages, gleaning much of the brilliant advice and info that is on here. Many have said it before, but i'll say it again - What an incredible resource. I never even had to post a question - they were always answered so thoroughly by searching through older posts. Charlie and I really took on a lot, without much experience, and this board made it possible and much less of a headache - so thank you to all of you who post frequently and support this forum.

We are currently in Tahiti and enjoying "big-city life" and all it's amenities. We had a wonderful crossing, and get quietly chuffed when other bigger boats stare in awe as not 2, not 3, but 4 people, a cat and two touring bikes emerge from Portal's cabin. We all still get along great, and having the extra hands made the mostly-hand-steering sailing actually fun. One of our crew leaves us tomorrow though, and I'd be lying if i didn't say it'll be nice to have the extra space!

Also, we should all be so proud of our little boats - these little ladies love to sail! We had a surprisingly short passage, averaging 5 kts, and from the Marquesas to the Tuamotus, Portal not only kept up with, but sailed faster than a 40ft Passport, and a 43ft vessel ahead of us! That's surely not due to the hands onboard, but to the brilliant and simple design of these affordable boats. She especially excels in light airs and beam/broad reaches, when other boats are forced to motor to stop the flogging.

Anyway! Thanks for checking out the blog, and especially for all of your advice and information on here. I have been silently learning from you all for over a year!

Ps: Oh, and re the cat comment - We are well aware of the procedures and have completed all the paperwork for our little feline. Providing we spend at least 6 months outside of a rabies free country (mexico) she will only need 30 days in quarantine.
