FYI. This summer I replaced my original Cape Dory dacron 150 genoa with a new UK sailmakers Tape Drive Silver Passagemaker II 143 genoa, it is made of mylar. The sail is beautiful and translucent, which makes it easy to see oncoming boats.
The imoprovement in performance is dramatic. The boat heals considerably less, and is about 1 knot faster. For the first time I am passing boats my length and even some larger boats.
I was a bit hesitant at first to switch to these new sails, but now I am a convert.
