Hi all,
Here's another little taste of cruising in the Philippines.
Sunshine and crew just returned from a one week local cruise among some of the nearby islands.
Dream on.
Kalanggaman Island is about 35 miles NNE of Carmen.
Kalanggaman Island. We are anchored in about 15' of very clear water.
Kalanggaman Island. Again
The maintenance man.
Beautiful women abound in the Philippines. This is my crew, Loida.
Have a great summer sailing season,
Fred

You should always have an odd number of holes in your boat!

Re: Just a little taste
Hi all,
Thanks for the well wishes.
Don't forget that it is summer here. Even though it is normally spring in the northern hemisphere. Here in Cebu at approx. 10*30' N lat, it is summer when the sun passes overhead. That is when the sun's declination matches Cebu's latitude. That was exact about one month ago. So the schools are closed for summer vacation.
It is also HOT and humid, much like southern FLA in their real summer.
Will be winging my way to the US next week for a visit.
Take care,
Fred
PS. FYI. I costs about US$2,000 to fly round trip from US east coast to Cebu. That is the way I do it.
It can be done for about $400 less by flying a Chinese airline non-stop from the west coast to China, then Manila. But that requires a looooong time at once in a plane, 14 hours or so.
I am flying with United. Manila, Guam, Honolulu, LAX, Newark,NJ. I use a local carrier for the flight from Cebu to Manila.
Also since you are crossing the date line you loose one day. Last year when I returned to Cebu it took almost 4 calendar days. One day lost for date line, one night in Honolulu hotel because flight times didn't match up and one night in Manila airport waiting for flight to Cebu.
If you come from the east coast I recommend a 3 week stay, because your body will need 4~5 days to adjust to the 12~13 hour change in time plus of course the travel time.
For you adventurous types, Sunshine is always ready for a little local cruise.
Thanks for the well wishes.
