Berth length

Post by Tim Hornsby »

I am considering the purchase of a CD30. But, without knowing if the berths are long enough,I hesitate to pursue any leads due to time and distance involved. Any help with dimensions (ie:length)would be greatly appreciated.

The CD30 Vberth is approximately 6ft. deep, but about 5-6 ft. wide also. With the vberth filler piece in place, which then forms a continuous mattress, you can angle yourself to one side or the other, and gain a few inches extra if needed. The Settees in the salon are about 7 ft.long..maybe a tad less than that.

By comparison, I am a 6ft.er, and an ex-football player (ie: I could loose another 40 lbs and be happy :^) ). I love the vberth. It fits me fine, but snuggly.

I would advise that if you are interested in any boat, you really need to *take the time* to go and try it out for yourself. If there isn't time for that, then where will the sailing time come from?

The CD30 was originally designed to be Carl Albergs own boat for his wife and him (to sail in retirement I suppose), but it became such a good boat that they made nearly 400 of them I believe. She flies when sailed right, and with a large genoa out front.

Cheers!
