INTERIOR PAINTING

Post by bpiperno »

I would like to pain the NON WOOD interior of my CD 25D. By that I mean the area around the ice box , stove, main cabin under the settees, head.
Is this pure fiberglass? I am planning to use white as it is now
What is the preparation and what type of paint? Which is the easiest way?
Is there any good old post to read about this?
Thanks
Ben

Petit makes a paint just for this purpose. It is an off white color and contains anti-mildew additives. Defender and West Marine, I believe, both carry it. I painted my cabin with it last year. It is latex and goes on easy.

Hi, I recenlty repainted the interior of my 25 with Rust Oleum topside paint. Prior to that I started by cleaning all the surfaces with clorox and TSP to remove mold and dirt. Followed that with a quick sanding with 220 grit paper. I rolled and tipped the Rustoleum and did 2 coats. I was very happy with the result and the paint is really durable.

I would suggest something other than latex due to the potential heat / humidiy effects and durability.

Good luck
