outboard motor mount on stern rail

Post by wizard »

I have seen in the past an outboard motor mount for the stern railing made out of starboard material. Does anyone know where to purchase these or is it a self-made item, thanks.

Spartan Marine sells them still:

What type of boat is this for? We looked at using it on our CD27, but had a hard time finding a motor with an extra long shaft that wasn't too heavy for it. IIRC it was designed for seagull outboards, but that may just be a rumor. I saw one once, it was pretty beefy, but I wouldn't expect it to hold a heavy outboard.

This may be what you are looking for. Sold at WM but I am sure also at Defender and elsewhere.

Hi Robert, yes, I had seen that one and it is made out of Starboard. That would do the trick for sure, however I was looking for the long one so you can secure the outboard shaft as well. I think it's out there, and I know I have seen them, just don't know if they are made commercially, or if each owner just buys a piece of Starboard and makes their own.

Here is what I think you are talking about.

Like everything Edson, it is very well made and the price reflects it.

I was faced with mounting an outboard on the rail last year and opted for the cheap Defender solution, Steve.
