Chatham MA local knowledge

Post by jerryaxler »

The kids and grandkids are staying at Wequasset and the closest harbor is Stage Harbor in Chatham. I need some local knowledge as to shoaling and availability of anchoring or mooring rental for a few days at the end of July for a 36' sailboat with a 5' draft.
Any help is appreciated.

Contact the Chatham Harbormaster's Office. They have anchorage locations along the south side of the channel inside the outer harbor. They may have other spots. The office is pretty strict with transient approval in summer but friendly and will work with you. Stay in the channel approaching and leaving.......it shoals quickly either side.
