For commercial hatches, I'd consider the Bomar cast aluminum 15"X24" OVAL 104612 (http://store.hamiltonmarine.com/browse. ... 4,131.html). However, I also agree with Carl that this hatch would only be of marginal utility. In order to work on anything below, I would want a space of about 3ft x 2ft.

As an alternative, I took out the battery from the starboard bulkhead. This gave me access to the side of the Yanmar with the lift pump, dip stick, etc. It also made it possible to access the oil plug of the transmission. It is not as easy to work from inside the lazarette as it would be from above, but my primary objective was to keep the engine dry.
