We spilled candle wax in the cockpit on the non-skid. Citronella candle, of course. Does anyone know of a way to remove the wax from the non-skid without damaging the non-skid. The non-skid is an AWLGRIP painted surface.
Thanks

Candle wax on the non-skid

Frank,
A cloth dampened in mineral spirits covering the wax will soften it and allow you to wipe it up with a clean cloth or paper towels. The spirits "should" be safe for your paint but always try a hidden spot to be sure. Good Luck, Robert

Painted non-skid?
I want to paint my non-skid, too -- tan, cream, white, anything but the standard Cape Dory light blue. Did you do the painting? How do you like it? Is it easy to do? Does it hold up?

Re: Painted non-skid?
We had the boat painted Oyster white with light grey non-skid. Best $$$$$$ we spent. They tell you to NEVER, NEVER, WAX the painted surfaces. Just wash it and it looks great. Good Luck! Oh, by the way, ours is a 28' trawler.

Candle makers--clumsy candle makers--I've been told, will place newsprint on the wax and apply a warm iron to the newsprint to pick up melted wax. It works (I've been told) for small amounts of wax. I don't know what the Awl Grip will do when warmed.
Good luck.
