Cape Dory 10 for sale

Post by Richard Worth »

Hull no. 1396, in Deale, MD. All brightwork is mahogany, varnished, in very good condition. Blue fiberglass interior liner in very good condition. White hull gelcoat generally in good condition with some crazing. Transom got a coat of paint (not quite the shade of the gelcoat) due to nicks and patches (previous owner) too unsightly to ignore. New mahogany mast partners shifted aft a few inches to allow mast to step on what would be keel just aft of stem in a wooden boat (original step too flimsy to support the mast when sailing in Chesapeake Bay chop). Gunter rig converted to single mast section using original spars (can be returned to gunter configuration). Dacron sail with one set of reef points is in very good condition (longer on luff, shorter on foot than original CD nylon sail. 7ft ash oars and bronze oarlocks, anchor and rode, two tillers. Watertight inspection ports in all liner flotation compartments. Removable pinned-in fore and aft seats port and stbd side between stern sheets and center thwart for optimum steering/sheet tending without having to sit in the bilge. Stored in garage on owner-built launching dolly; no trailer. She has all her parts and everything works; she's ready to sail, row and tow. About $2200 invested, which I'd like to get back, but will gladly consider offers.

I regret not being able to provide an answer to inquiries concerning the year this CD10 was built; perhaps some knowledgeable Cape Dorian will respond. The full hull liner would make me think it was late in the model run, but just where 1396 puts her in build year I don't know.

In response to another question: If you really want a CD10, but just don't want to invest as enthusiastically as I did, please make an offer. If I can't work with it, I'll say so, no harm, no foul. Thanks.
