When cranking the engine(Volvo) from the lower station the tachometer will not operate until I go up and turn on the key at the flybridge station. Is this normal?

When cranking the engine(Volvo) from the lower station the tachometer will not operate until I go up and turn on the key at the flybridge station. Is this normal?

Not on my CD 30 powerboat. The tachs operate at both stations when the keys are at either station. Of course, I installed the lower station and wired it myself. But all I did was to use the standard Volvo Y connector and wiring harnesses to the Volvo instrument panels. And for what Volvo charges for those little hunks of wire and plastic, the tachs darn well ought to work!
