Cheoy Lee, any reviews from capedory enthusiasts?
I have an '81 CD 25. Im thinking of trading up. Besides Capedory's, Im also interested in a Cheoy Lee '72 Offshore 31 that I came across on the net. I have never sailed a Cheoy Lee, but she looks beautiful. Does anyone know these boats? How do they compare with Cape Dory's? Thanks....

Nice sailor ,but all the ones I have delivered or had contact with were terrible leakers around the cabin/deck joint. Known in some of the yards as Cheoy Leaks.

Pretty boats, but the teak decks on the Cheoy Lee's are what started the bad reputation that teak decks have. They are also accused of using inferior cast metals that duplicate (ie: ripoff) more expensive brands of hardware..they break.
Coincidently, Good Old Boat magazine is reviewing the Cheoy Lee 31 in their current addition..you might want to locate a copy and take a read.
