sail cover and headsail storage bag

Post by JAB »

I would like to purchase a new sail cover and a headsail storage bag for the head stay for my CD 25. I would like to get these in the traditional cape dory color (I think it is some shade of brown).

Can someone please let me know what the traditional color is?

Any recommendations for vendors (good product/reasonable price)?

Thanks,

John

I'm not sure I can answer what the traditional Cape Dory color is for canvas. When I bought my boat, it had what I assume was "true brown," which I didn't particularly like. I switched to "Toast," which I have seen a lot of other Cape Dories use.

As far as recommendations on makers, I have had good luck with online sellers. (My "Sailor Tailor" appears to have gone out of business.) I took measurements of tiller length, winch diameter and height, and sail cover needs, and emailed them, receiving back well-fitting covers. When I sent my sails to SailCare a couple years ago, they also replaced the sun cover on my genoa.

Sunbrella Linen

Sunbrella Linen color seemed to work well for me. The dark brown Dory color is a bit severe for my taste. But taste is quite personal.
