We are looking at a used 28 ft. fisherman style Cape Dory. We would appreciate hearing from other owners on what to look OUt for. The holding tank is missing but the Y valve is there. Any problems retrofiting? This is a 1988 model with the Volvo 200. We have always had sailboats. This fits the budget more than the the cabin model and we aren't fond of flybridges. Appreciate any feedback. We are in Florida.

I own a gasoline powered CD 28 Open Sport Fisherman. The factory offered the option of an opening windshield which the original owner of my boat did not purchase. I would highly recommend this be a consideration in your purchase since it gets extremely hot under the blue top on summer days in NY. I had a canvas shop install two zippers over each seat. This allows me to roll back the top, like a "T" top on a car. The openings are about 18" x 24". This did not solve the problem. The cost to have a carpenter retofit an opening windshield is about $1500 per side. Other than this, it is a great boat! Good luck.
