Happy and Sad

We sold Cricket, our CD25D, to a great couple that used to own a CD36 on the Chesapeake. The couple now summers on the midcoast of Maine. We were happy about the sale because we know the boat is going to a good home. We were also sad because we loved that boat and we are going to miss her!

Next week we are closing on a Pacific Seacraft 34. We are really happy about becoming owners of this well cared for boat. The boat looks a lot like Cricket's big sister (down to the green awlgripped hull).

We're also a little sad because this boat, although amazing, isn't a Cape Dory. Plastic scupper drains and ball valve seacocks? Crazy. Our plan is to retrofit the boat with Spartan hardware over time

We really enjoy being part of the Cape Dory community, and we intend to continue as proud associate members.

See you on the water next season!

That is a seriously beautiful, well equipped boat. She should make you forget all about giving up the 25D.

Bob and Becky:

One reason I looked at a 25D was because Becky bragged about your boat while she was helping me in physical therapy. She had it right, and I don't plan to sell Creme Brulee in the foreseeable future.

That said, I got to see a Pacific Seacraft 34 up close when I crewed to Bermuda last year. What a beautiful boat! You'll love it--and you could take it to Bermuda, or just about anyplace else.

But don't forget your Cape Dory friends!

Hey everyone thanks for the congrats and well wishes.

Joe,

Becky loved to brag about Cricket and the boat's capabilities. When sailors at the dock found out Becky was responsible for the bright work, I often had to remind the now would-be suitors that my sweet wife was in fact happily married.

I'm glad her opinion of the 25D helped lean you towards the boat!

Bermuda eh? Well... we're going to explore more of the Maine coast and see how it goes. Becky keeps mentioning Nova Scotia, so that might be something in the nearish future.

I promised Cathy and Leo that I'd continue to help support this board. I'm really sad there isn't a sister board for PS enthusiasts.. so that's something I'm playing around with.

Oh and here's a picture of Leo trying to talk me out of buying the PS34. You can see he's not happy because I'm falling for the boat:

Bob,

Love the picture of Leo coming out the companionway with a CD scowl on his face! Being the loyal CDer he is, it aways pained him when one of the members left the fold (ex. me and my Shannon 28). But he does know boats, so he knows you bought an excellent one. And you couldn't have a better guy to examine it with you! Good luck with your new boat....she is indeed a beauty!

Congratulations on the new boat. Many of us on the CDSOA board remember the late Dick Feffer, who sold his CD30MKII and bought a PS34. He was a great sailor and he loved both those boats.

You have very good taste!!

You are aware, of course, that CDSOA Bylaw 17, Section 5, Rule 19A clearly states the following:

"In the case of raft-ups which include Cape Dory vessels and one or more Pacific Seacraft vessels, the Pacific Seacraft vessel(s) is(are) designated as the anchor boat(s)."

Just so you are clear on that...

Happy to oblige. You'll be able to find us fairly easily at an anchorage. We'll be the only Pacific Seacraft flying a CDSOA burgee, with crew sporting all manner of CDSOA clothing and hats.
