Located in Great Kills Harbor in Staten Island, New York City at the Richmond County Yacht Club.
Currently in winter storage in a slip and is accessible for inspection.
Reason for selling: I have two Typhoon Weekenders and was restoring them together for sailing instruction along with personal use. My plans have changed and I am upgrading to a larger boat and only need one Typhoon for my small boat sailing.
The boat offered for sale comes complete, ready for use and partially restored.
The hull was completely stripped via soda blasting in 2007 and allowed to dry for a complete summer season before being barrier coated with two-part epoxy (Ameron). All fairing was done with Marine Tex. The fiberglass rudder was in very good condition but I decided to glass it to the bronze post with cloth and then fair with Marine Tex. I did this as these fiberglass rudders insert into a channel in the bronze rudder post and this weak point has been known to break. If you look at the rudder now it is smooth to the rudder post and looks as if it is one piece.
The hull had no serious damage reveal itself when it was stripped. There are five layers of Ameron applied as per the manufacturer's instructions. When I was done, the boat looked like it had just come out of the plug. The water-line was reestablished and slightly raised.
Before any barrier coating, new marine-grade bronze thru-hulls were installed along with marine grade bronze ball valves.
A very high quality semi-hard ablative was applied generously within 12 hours of the last coating of Ameron. It is a 65% copper product that has served quite well over the last three seasons.
There are no parts of the hull that were neglected. Stands and blocks were moved so those areas could be addressed as well.
Motor is a Johnson 3.5 HP outboard that I purchased from a local dealer new (I have the receipt.). This past spring I did the overhaul including the ethanol carburetor rebuild kit and water pump. I have the receipts for these parts. Motor was used infrequently.
I replaced some of the turnbuckles and shrouds. Sails are original and in good condition. They served me well. In addition to the blade jib and main, I have a Genoa in very good condition.
Boat comes with a new sail cover and tiller cover, three round Polyform fenders purchased new last year, anchor and rode, docking lines and snubbers, extra lines, life-jackets, first-aid kit, bottom brush, bilge pump, extra rigging parts, gas can, boat pole, Type IV. Essentially, it is a ready to go sailing boat with everything that you would need for a day or weekend on the water. It will pass USCG courtesy inspection and I have the proof of previous inspections.
Since the boat is in the water, I will arrange haul out to verify condition once we have agreed upon a sale.
Please feel free to call me at (718) 273-6673 or use the email button to send me a message. I have multiple photos that I can send to you upon request. Price: $1700.

also included a Type IV.
In response to a question that I received, the missing section of teak rub-rail on the starboard side was due to the tender at my yacht club. I have a replacement piece of teak, steam bent to match the original. It is located in the port berth.
Thanks for looking.

Answers to Questions
Since I have received quite a few of the same questions, I will post the answers here to save people time. Please feel free to message or email me if you need to know anything else. Thank you.
I will be available for most of this week for inspections of the boat by appointment: best days are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
For clarification:
Partially restored means that what has been done is described here. Everything else is in original condition. I can tell you that a moisture meter gave no evidence of water infiltration into the cockpit coring, however the aft sections of the deck require coring work. The interior liner and exterior glass of the deck are in good condition to make this a relatively easy job. I have priced the boat with the retail cost of this work in mind. The boat is fine as is and I am willing to give you any information that I have discovered and done myself to make the boat 100%. I have done this repair before with excellent results that are better than original and can also refer you to professionals who do it. If you were to do this you would have a boat worth more than you paid for it.
