mystery red boat

Post by pete faga »

I have always wondered what type of hull that is.It's right down the street from me. The chainplates are tabbed to the hull maybe modified or original? I'll stop bye again and see if the owner is around. ID # is painted over or the is not one which probably makes it pre 1973.

The CD27 was built between 1976 and 1984, so it should have had a HIN.

mystery red boat

I checked out red yesterday and talked to the owner. His Mass boat title states that it is a Cape Dory 27.The keel and hull look like a 27 everything else has been changed!

It's a SS23. No doubt. Here's a link to one that's currently for sale.

I just got into this topic and was basing my post on the 2nd post (the one with the Sea Sprite). I just realized you're referring to a post that's no longer active.

Corinthian

That boat is shaped almost the same as my Sailstar Corinthian, (Bristol 19). Looks bigger though. The Corinthian is the Typhoon's big sister. It was drawn by Alberg about the same time as the TY.

Red Boat

Post by ronkberg »

tbrsedona, if you read through the full thread, Cathy Monaghan and Markst95 each captured the questioned red boat. It was an older challenge for a boat listed in Boston and I just wanted to see if any of the CDSOA experts could give her a name. It surely is not a CD-27 as advertised by the seller, but he said that the previous owner that he had bought from, said it was a CD-27.

The seller never did send me more photos and I do not know if he sold it. It was just a fun exercise for the CD experts.
