25 D and the 27

I am researching the Cape Dory 25 D and the 27 as possible vessels to have trucked to Alaska and then cruising for 1 to 3 months. I've been aboard a 27, but not the 25 D.

What size engine does the 27 have? One has a Yanmar 8 hp which seems it might be underpowered?

I spend most of my time sailing on San Francisco Bay. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
