While digging through my shoebox picture file, I came across these pictures that I thought might be of interest to some of you.
Here are photos of two ships that I had the good fortune to have sailed on in previous years. The top photo is of Windy, a four masted, gaff rigged, top sailed schooner that is 148 feet in length
The lower photo is Windy's sister ship, Windy II. She is 150.5 feet long. She is a four masted Barquetine. This has a square rigged fore mast with the three remaining masts aft of it being gaff and topsail rigged. Some call this a Hermaphrodite rig. It's not too common today.
When taking paying customers out for 1 1/2 or 2 hour day trips, quite often the officers and crew act out a pirate theme for amusement. The kids really relate to it and are included in the skits. Pictured are Captain Bob and his first wench/wife Jeanine with two of the crew.
