Any motorsailers know what racor model number fuel /water separator unit to use.I`m talking about the hardware, not the filter.
Is it Racor 500MA ??

The 500MA should be fine, it's rated for 60 gallons per hour. I'm guessing you burn less than 2 gallons per hour. Our Perkins 4-108 is just a little smaller (108 cubic inches vs 127 for the W46) and we burn less than a gallon an hour.

I repowered last year, replacing the W-46 with a W-55C. It still burns less than a gallon per hour. Sorry but I don't know the Racor model number. It is original to my purchase.

Fuel flow is always slightly more than consumption. Those Westerbeke's have a fuel return line and fuel pumps that can move 15 GPH+. My 44 hp Westerbeke uses a Purolator PRO-42SV and it is rated at 15 GPH so if the engine is consuming .75 GPH you have the potential for 14.25 GPH being returned to the tank and 15 GPH moving across the Racor all of this of course depending upon head losses, filter restrictions etc.. What the engine does not use, is put back into the tank. A Racor 500MA is still more than adequate though. My 44B Four uses a Racor 500 as primary and a Racor 900 as my recirc/polishing filter.

Good point, I sort of forgot about that.
