Universal M25 Fuel Hoses

Post by Dick Spangler »

Due to ongoing air-in-fuel problems, I am planning to rebuild the fuel delivery system on Tillandsia. Currently, there are 1/4" ID hoses installed. Since the Universal Service Manual indicates that the fuel inlet hose is 5/16" ID I'm thinking that I should replace all the 1/4" lines with 5/16" lines. Any opinions/observations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I was a bit confused when I went to replace a fuel line this spring. I seemed to remember using 1/4" as that is what was on the boat when I took over. The confusion was caused by the manual that said they were 5/16". If you had very long runs to and from the fuel tank and the engine the larger line might be a good idea.

I have the M20 engine and it has always run flawlessly with the 1/4" lines. It certainly couldn't hurt a thing to go up a 16th but it is probably unnecessary. You will have to change all of the hose barb fittings along with the hose, Steve.

check the nipples

be sure and check to see if the nipples will take 5/16" fuel line (been there done that).

And if you are interested in moving up to 5/16" and looking for a deal see
