typhoon cushion measurements or patterens

Post by ERIECOLLEEN »

THE CUSHIONS WERE MISSING FROM THE BOAT WE RESCUED. THERE IS AN AMISH CRAFTSMAN WHOSE WORK I'VE SEEN AND HE IS REALLY GOOD. TROUBLE IS, HE IS LANDLOCKED AND I DON'T TRAILER OUR BOAT. I NEED AN ACCURATE SET OF MEASUREMENTS TO SEND HIM. PLEASE HELP AND/OR ADVISE.

Cushions for weekender

Post by markgrark »

I am also looking for measurements for the V-berth. I just purchased a weekender in RI and hope to sail it back to Maine at the end of June.

I do not know about where you can get the measurements but http://www.bottomsiders.com/boatresults ... ape%20Dory is a link to where you can buy them. Hey wait, cant you just measure you boat where you want to put the cushions. Both the cockpit and cabin cushions are some what curved so maybe it would be best to make patterns out of paper first.

That would be the easy way but the boat is in RI and I am in Maine. I expect that I will need to take a ride down! Thanks for your help.

Easy patterns

I have done several boats that did not have the original cushions. I have always used a big roll of brown paper. Take it to the boat, tape as many pieces together as you need to make it wide, lay it down in the berth, trace around and then cut it out. Send it to the cushion maker. The only thing you can't reproduce using this method is the bevels on the outside edges of the cushion. I have always just done without them and never found it to be a problem. I have never had a problem with a cushion not fitting using this method.
