The year of my boat

I just bought a used Cape Dory 25 outboard model sailboat, and I want to know how to determine the year of manufacture. The hull number is CPDE02500475E, but in the right seat locker there is a November 1974 date inside the hull. Can the Hull number determine the year of the boat?

Yes, its the last four digits of the HIN. In this case April '75.
