1983 CAPE DORY SAILING TRAWLER

Post by ronkberg »

Hey folks, here is a new one for me. Someone added a mast to the cabin top of this '83 CD trawler.

Best of both worlds?

Ron

Isn't the owner...

JoeMSCD300? I can't recall his exact screen name, but he posts from time to time. There aren't too many boats like that out there, like the ad says - what are the chances?

I think "Joe CD MS 300" is located along the east coast (Booth Bay :?: ). Also, I think his trawler has green topsides. The one on Ebay is in Michigan( :?: ) and has off-white topsides.

The CD 300 MS was a standard Cape Dory produced model, actually designed to sail.

The beast shown here is a CD24 Trawler with a mast added and I doubt it sails well at all.

I stand corrected, I guess it is indeed a factory shipped "sailing" trawler, had no idea CD ever built such things. Still a very different beast then the 300 MS which is clearly more of a sailboat.

That is a new one on me also. Never heard about that model. Sea Hunt was right that my CD MS 300 is a green hulled boat up in Boothbay Harbor. The MS 300 is probably midway or slightly closer on the evoloutionary scale between sailboats and power boats. That 24 looks like it is closer to the power boat side.

I do see a family resemblence however. My guess is that it was designed by Clive Dent who did all of CD's power boats. Oh no, maybe I'm closer to the power boats on that evolutionary scale.

Are you telling us that when the evolution is completed that SAILBOATS will be extinct? Yikes, I'd better sail more before the marine police capture my Typhoon for display in a museum.
