Actually it might be able to help with servicing seacocks in the water. I've never actually done it but saw Dean do it - it wasn't a huge amount of water that came in, but this would stop the water influx better than rags would....

They do look nifty
I saw the product in the flesh (or plastic) at the recent hands-on survival-at-sea seminar at LRSE (Life Raft Survival Equipment) in Tiverton, RI.
It looked great, and I plan to buy a couple.

Joe, did you get a feel for how easy it would be to pull them out of a hole (say a seacock you were using as a temporary plug) ?

Not sure, Melissa
Sorry, Melissa. I was thinking more about how easy they would be to insert and how likely they would be to stay.
They would certainly fit more easily into an opening than a wooden plug.

Other uses
And when the boat is on the hard, you can use them on the parking lot to establish a slalom course for skateboarders. Remarkably useful.

What a "coinkidink"
The April 2010 issue of Practical Sailor has a one-half page article on the TruPlug. I would be happy to xerox and mail a copy to anyone who wants . . . . . . . . . . . oh wait, I seem to recall some arcane discussion of the illegality (is that a word ) of doing that.
Practical Sailor seems to recommend the TruPlug (versatile, compressible, easy to cut to size, etc.) but also recommends keeping various sized wood plugs hanging from each seacock, thru-hull, etc.
I'm off to S/V Tadpole. Some maintenance and prep work and, weather permitting, some sailing.
